What Keeps People Calling Us
We Turn Up When We Say
The thing that costs you most is a roofer who never turns up. You get a day from us, we are there on it, and if something has to shift you hear it from us rather than working it out from the window.
You See The Fault Yourself
Photographs from the roof, gone through with you, plus a plain explanation of what is wrong and why it matters. You decide what to spend knowing what you are spending it on.
The Invoice Matches The Quote
No day rate quietly stacking up, and nothing new appearing once the scaffold is up and refusing has stopped being realistic. The figure we agree is the figure on the invoice.
A Roof Price That Does Not Move
The worst part of a roofing job is rarely the price you agree. It is the second invoice - the extra that turned up once the scaffolding was already there and you had no real choice. That does not happen here.
We put a ladder up rather than assessing your roof from the kerb, establish what has actually failed, and price the whole job on one itemised sheet. Every element is costed before a tile is touched. No jargon, no stories about your rafters, and no pressure to decide while we are stood there.
One sheet, itemised. Materials, labour, scaffold, access, waste and the paperwork that comes with working over a terraced street are all inside the figure you agreed - there is nothing for you to arrange and nothing billed on separately afterwards. The only thing that moves the number is something neither of us could see from the ground, and you hear about that before it is done, not on the invoice.
Pitched and flat roofs, lead, chimneys, roofline and full re-roofs - across Gillingham, Chatham, Rochester, Strood and Rainham. Where a straightforward repair will do the job, that is what we will put forward, and that is all you will pay for.
What we cover
The Work We Take On
We work across Medway - Gillingham, Chatham, Rochester and the surrounding towns - and every job runs the same way: we get a ladder up, look at the roof itself, set out in plain terms what it needs, and hand you one itemised price in writing. That figure is not padded so it can be haggled down, and nobody will lean on you to sign there and then. Already got a price from somebody else and want a second view on it? We will give you an honest one.
Find Out Where You Stand
A roof problem does not improve on its own, and the repair is almost always cheaper than the damage it causes if it is left. We will come out, look properly, and tell you what it needs. Free, no obligation, no pressure at the end of it.
Common questions
The Questions We Hear Most
It depends on the fault rather than the size of the house. A few slipped tiles is a small job on any roof; a failed valley, tired lead or a chimney needing work is a bigger one, and whether safe access needs scaffolding shifts it again. Anyone quoting a figure without seeing the roof is guessing, and the guess will move later. We look first, then give you one firm itemised price.
A repair, nearly always, and for most roofs it is the right answer as well as the cheaper one. Replacement earns its cost when the covering itself has reached the end - tiles slipping in several places at once, battens breaking up underneath, or the same leak appearing somewhere new each winter. Repeatedly repairing a roof in that state is the expensive option.
Storm damage usually is. Wear, age and lack of maintenance usually are not, and that line is where most claims get refused. Where the weather is genuinely the cause we will give you a written report with photographs setting out the damage and what putting it right involves, which is what your insurer will want to see.
Not for a straightforward repair. It starts to matter when you change the covering, alter the shape of the roof, or take a stack down - and inside a conservation area those need consent. Medway has a number of them, so we establish that before materials are ordered rather than once they are on the roof.
Natural slate can pass a century. Clay plain tiles often reach eighty years or more. Concrete interlocking tiles are typically good for forty to sixty. In practice the covering rarely fails first - it is the nails, the battens and the lead around them that go, which is why a roof can look sound from the street and still be losing tiles.
Ask for the price in writing and itemised, ask what happens if something is found once the work has started, and ask for the guarantee in writing before you agree to anything. A roofer who will not put those three things on paper is telling you something useful. You get all three from us in writing before any work is agreed, and you are welcome to hold us to them.
An active leak goes to the front of the queue, because stopping the water is usually the difference between a repair and a new ceiling. For anything that is not urgent we will give you a realistic day rather than an optimistic one.
Where We Go
Covering Gillingham And Medway
We are based in Gillingham and work right across Medway - Chatham, Rochester, Strood, Rainham, Twydall, Hempstead, Wigmore and Walderslade. Everything from Victorian terraces and Edwardian bays to thirties hipped semis and modern extensions. Slate, tile, flat roofs and lead are all day-to-day work for us.
The roofer who comes out is based here in Medway, not dispatched from two counties away. That means you get seen quickly, and there is somebody local to go back to if it needs another look.
